Build A Strong Relationship With Their Audience By Writing Copy And Emails That Are Content Driven

What Is Content-Driven Email Marketing?

Content-driven email marketing is a strategy that involves crafting email messages with your audience’s needs in mind. Instead of just selling your products and services, you carefully craft messages that are relevant, personalized, and engaging to the reader. In other words, you keep your audience top of mind not hitting sales goals or product launches.

Why Is Content-Driven Email Marketing Important?

Emails that are relevant and personalized lead to a better customer experience. Your customers will appreciate knowing they can trust you and feel confident in their purchases because they know you care about them as people. You’ll also see positive results when it comes to the metrics that matter: clicks, opens, and revenue generated from these emails.

Write Strategically And Make Every Word Count

Write to their level of understanding. Write about concepts that are relevant to them and use familiar language. If you’re writing for technical clients, then write like a techie. If you’re writing for non-technical clients, don’t use jargon or industry terms they don’t understand!

Make every word count. People read what they need to read and ignore the rest. So when you’re writing in a conversational tone (don’t be afraid to show your personality), focus on making every word count.

Here are ways to make every word count:

  • Avoid long sentences with multiple clauses.
  • Use subheadings and bullet points wherever possible instead of paragraphs (because readers skim through a copy).
  • Make sure your first sentence clearly states what the paragraph is about (so your reader knows if they should keep reading).
  • Keep it simple and use plain language so even people with a low reading level can understand what you’re saying without having to reread it several times over or look up words in the dictionary.

5. Are Knowledgeable About Inbound Marketing, Social Media, And Other Digital Marketing Strategies

A freelancer with a mindset of continuous learning will help you gain an edge over other competitors. He or she will have learned about some new techniques that can help you create excellent content, build your audience, and increase revenue.

Copywriters should know how to write good copy for websites, landing pages, blogs, autoresponders, sales pages, and emails. But they don’t need to be experts in the technical aspects of a website or email marketing software. However, copywriters who are experienced with inbound marketing (or at least social media) can help ensure that their skills don’t become obsolete anytime soon.

1. You Can Work From Home

Another advantage of being a freelance copywriter is that you can work from anywhere in the world. Since you are usually dealing with clients online, you can work from wherever it is most comfortable for you. You can work as much or as little as you want and set your hours. You don’t have to go into a stuffy office every morning; instead, you can sit back in your bed and write away.

You also don’t have to worry about getting dressed up for work when working from home unless that motivates you. Some people prefer to get fully dressed for their day because it makes them feel more productive. Others prefer rolling out of bed ten minutes before they start working and writing away in their pajamas or underwear (or both!)

2. You Can Choose Your Hours

In the freelancing world, you’re not controlled by a boss or operating within the same monotonous routine day in and day out. You can choose when to work and when to take a break.

Depending on how much you want to put into your business, that means you can potentially earn more in less time. Even when you’re grinding away at your laptop for long hours, it’s up to you how structured that time is and if you can find a way to work smarter rather than harder (or both), it’s easier to enjoy your free time with nothing hanging over your head.

It’s impossible and impractical to set specific office hours as a freelancer because there are too many factors outside of our control: client preferences and deadlines; other freelancers who might be competing with us for projects; unexpected changes in weather or Internet speed at home; unforeseen responsibilities related to health or family members; etc.

3. You, Will, Be Working With Different Clients At Different Times

You will be working with different clients at different times. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from different people from all walks of life, and the skills you learn from them will make you a better freelancer and businessperson in general. You will be learning new skills and building your portfolio. In some cases, your client may need an email marketing campaign that includes a landing page or sales funnel.

In other cases, they may also want to hire you for copywriting services writing ad copy or sales page copy for their products as well as their websites. As you take on these projects, you’ll build up a strong portfolio of work that showcases how versatile and talented you are as a freelance copywriter/email marketer (and beyond!).

4. You Will Be Learning About Different Industries And Business Models

From working with real estate agents to coaches to large corporations, you’ll get to see firsthand how various businesses operate and grow which can help inform your future business decisions!

And most importantly: You will be learning about different marketing strategies. Because every client is unique (with their own goals and challenges), we must customize our strategy for each one! By doing so, we can ensure success in reaching those goals (hello more referrals!)

Crafting the perfect email campaign requires a mix of art and science. Learn the secrets of creating impactful campaigns in our guide on The Art and Science of the Perfect Email Campaign. Uncover the principles of perfect email campaigns and captivate your audience with compelling content.

5. You Can Be Your Boss

Of all the advantages of being a freelancer, one of the most important is that you get to be your boss. You are in charge of your career and its direction, so you can control your destiny.

It’s also up to you to define what the perfect work-life balance looks like for you. Like working late at night? Go for it! Love taking three-hour lunches? You do you! You make the rules. If you want to work from home or on a beach in Bali, go ahead. (And don’t forget to send us a postcard.)

In addition, by working as a freelancer, you are essentially building a brand that represents you and the skills that you have. For example: “Haley Walsh: copywriter & email marketer extraordinaire who writes mind-blowing words that lead to record-breaking revenue and results all while having fun along the way!”

Even though we don’t always think about it this way, every single thing we do as freelancers is contributing to our brand. This can be powerful because it means that everything we do has meaning and purpose and it allows us to showcase who we are as both professionals AND people outside of just our job title.

6. You Can Work As You Want, When You Want, And How You Want

With freelance copywriting and email marketing, you get to be your boss. You can balance things out as you wish.

Choose your clients: You can work with anyone from a local bakery to a Fortune 500 company. Work with people you like, respect, and have fun working with, so that you can do your best work for them.

Choose your hours: Work early in the morning when it’s quietest or at night when everyone else is sleeping and there are no interruptions. Some people are most productive by working in 90-minute bursts separated by 15-minute breaks. If this works for you, then take advantage of it!

Choose your projects: Do what excites you the most perhaps it’s writing sales promotions or crafting eBooks or recording videos? Find projects that make the most sense for where you are in your career right now and only work on those items that will help move you forward toward your goals.
