How I made almost $200k my FIRST YEAR IN REAL ESTATE!
Takeaways
Mastering real estate writing can lead to significant earnings.
Building a portfolio tailored to the real estate niche is essential.
Effective SEO strategies are crucial for attracting clients.
Networking with real estate professionals can open new opportunities.
Consistency and dedication are key to achieving substantial income.

1. Have A Niche

One of the biggest mistakes you can make as a real estate writer is to write about anything and everything. Not knowing who your audience is (and what they want to read) will make it impossible for you to develop an engaging blog post on any topic.

Before you consider writing a blog post, do some research and find out:

Who your audience is? This might seem obvious, but many writers don’t spend enough time thinking about their target readers before they start writing.

Some agents or companies may have multiple audiences they’re trying to reach with their content, for example, millennials might be interested in different parts of “selling houses 101” than boomers are (such as using social media), so make sure you understand where each type of person fits into this equation before moving forward with your next article!

What kind of content does/doesn’t work best for this audience? If possible, take some time reading through existing pieces that have been published by other popular bloggers within your industry (these could include other agents who are also writing regularly).

You’ll get great insight into what works well according to these experts’ experience this should help inform which topics would be most interesting and effective within our industry!

2. Do Your Research

The most important thing to do in your research is to get a clear picture of who you will be writing for. This includes:

  • Who they are
  • What they want
  • What they don’t want

Your research should also include an understanding of the competition, which means that you need to know what other people are doing and how well it’s working for them.

3. Know Your Competition Inside And Out

The third step in getting your listings is knowing your competition inside and out.

This can be hard, but it’s worth it to take the time and do some research on what they’re offering. Who are they targeting? What are their ads like? How many followers do they have? How many clients are they getting from this strategy?

You may want to use a tool like BuzzSumo (or another social media analytics tool) that allows you to see who’s sharing content about real estate in your area and how much engagement it’s getting on social media. This will give you an idea of what kind of posts are working well for other agents, which can help inform your strategy moving forward!

In the competitive world of real estate writing, having an edge is crucial. Discover how to gain your unfair advantage against competition with strategies and techniques that will elevate your content and make you stand out.

4. Build Your Instagram Account Around Your Ideal Reader

Next, you want to find your ideal reader. This can be done in the same way that you would write a book: start with who your ideal reader is and work out from there. What do they look like? What do they like to read? Where can they be found? Once you have an idea of what your ideal reader looks like, build a brand and presence around them.

For example, when I started writing content for agents, I knew that real estate agents were my target market because it was an industry that had been around for decades and new agents were always coming into the field.

They also had loads of competition from other brands, so it was hard for one agent to stand out from another, especially if their marketing efforts weren’t well thought out or executed properly.

5. Create A Business Website

There are many websites out there that will help you create a site for free, but I would recommend purchasing your domain name and hosting it on your server (if you plan to earn more than $1 million in revenue).

This way, you can control the look and feel of your website and make sure everything runs smoothly. You also get more credibility with agents when they see that you have invested in this type of setup.

Make sure to have:

A blog where people can read posts about real estate topics that interest them and subscribe via email so they don’t miss any new content (this is how I generated my first few sales)

A contact page where people can reach out with questions about content writing or purchasing packages from you (I used this form heavily during my first few months of writing)

6. Launch An Email List Asap

In the beginning, I didn’t have a list and I had no idea how to build one. So, I started with my blog and offered something for free to anyone who signed up. It could be an ebook, webinar, or consultation whatever you want!

  • Offer your service for free in exchange for their email address
  • Make sure that this is as easy as possible for them to sign up (no complicated forms)
  • Ask for their permission first before sending any emails

The more content you create and share on your website (or social media), the more likely people will sign up to receive those updates from you. This takes time because it takes time to build trust with your audience so they know that what they’re getting is good quality information.

7. Create Content That Drives Traffic To Your Site

You may be wondering, “What do I write?”

Well, the first step is to ask yourself why you are writing your content. What’s your goal? Are you trying to sell something or just drive traffic?

A lot of people have the misconception that if they write something and it doesn’t rank on Google’s first page then it isn’t valuable.

That idea couldn’t be further from the truth. You can get tons of value from someone reading your content even if it doesn’t rank well for SEO purposes. It may take more effort but it will pay off in other ways such as more subscribers or better branding for your business.

Your goal should be to create content that drives traffic back to your site and provides value for users who visit there (and ideally makes them want to sign up). If done correctly, this process will help boost organic rankings over time because Google loves fresh compelling information about topics related to what people are searching for online today!

8. Promote This Content On Facebook And Instagram Via Paid Ads And Organic Posting

Promote this content on Facebook and Instagram via paid ads and organic posting

It’s not enough to write a blog post, put it up on your website, and expect everyone to come to find it organically. You need to promote it. There are many ways you can do this, but here are some of the most effective methods:

Use Facebook Ads to Promote Your Content: You can set up custom audiences for people who have previously visited your site or signed up for an email newsletter (or both). Then use those audiences for targeting any ad campaign which allows you to reach potential clients based on their past behavior and interests rather than just random guesses.

Add Links in Your Instagram Bio: If someone follows you in the hopes of seeing more of your work down the road, make sure they know where they can find it! Adding links in your bio will help keep new followers engaged while also boosting traffic back to your site or other social media accounts.

9. Create Content Upgrades For Your Website Articles

Content upgrades are a way to capture leads and build your email list without annoying pop-ups or interstitials. They’re essentially an extension of the article you’ve already written, but with extra content that readers can access if they sign up for it.

The easiest way to create a content upgrade is simply by adding a link at the end of each article that says “Read more.” You can also add some text explaining what’s in this post, like:

  • How I made $200k writing real estate articles in two years
  • My secret strategy for creating high-converting blog posts

10. Create Paid Products And Use The Content Upgrades As Extras To Incentivize Signing Up

You can also use content upgrades to entice people to subscribe. This is a great way to increase your email list because most people will sign up for something free, but they won’t necessarily want to pay for it.

In my experience, the best way to create an effective content upgrade is by creating an ebook or checklist that gives readers more value than they would get from simply reading the blog post. For example, one of my favorite ways to do this is through video content upgrades.

I created a free video course on how real estate agents could earn more leads by using social media and paid for it by giving away downloadable pdfs (and later videos) as extras when someone signs up for my email list.

11. Create An Affiliate Program So People Who Love You Can Earn Money by Recommending You To Their Readers And Followers

Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money, and it’s also a great way to build your email list. When you’re writing for realtors, you’ll have access to their email lists. You can use that opportunity as leverage when you start building your list with affiliate marketing.

When people recommend your content, they’ll be recommending it because they believe in what you’re doing and want other people to experience the same thing they’ve experienced by reading.

Watching whatever content it is that you wrote whether it’s an article or video tutorial on how to do something such as write an Amazon review blog post or create an infographic (which I highly recommend).

12. Start A Weekly Podcast With All Of The Things You’re Learning On Your Blogging Journey

It’s time to get serious about starting your podcast.

What is a podcast?

A podcast is an audio file you record and upload online so that people can listen to it on their computers, phones, or in the car through streaming services like Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

Most podcasts are done over some time (usually 1-2 hours) and recorded in one session so that they flow together well when someone listens from start to finish.

A good way to do this is by using software like GarageBand because it comes with easy templates for recording each side of your conversation separately and then combining them afterwards.2. Why should you start a podcast?

Podcasts have been around for decades now but they’re still very popular today because they allow you not only to share knowledge but also to build relationships with listeners who may become customers down the road!

Not only will you be able to reach out beyond where ever else might be able with just blogging alone; but there are also potential earnings from sponsorships/advertising revenue too! 3.

How do I record my first episode? The easiest way would be using software like GarageBand because it comes equipped with everything needed such as preloaded tracks if needed plus templates

13. Write Guest Posts For Other Sites With Large Audiences (Preferably In The Same Niche)

Guest posts are a great way to build relationships and get your name out there.

Here are some ways you can find guest post opportunities:

Search for keywords like “guest post” or “write for us.” Sites that accept guest posts will often use these phrases in their job listings to attract writers.

Search for guest post directories. It’s common for sites that publish articles regularly to also have a directory of freelance writers they’ve worked with before, which makes it easy to find work.

14. Offer Webinars And Free Mini-Courses To Bring In New Email Subscribers

There are three ways to get new email subscribers:

Offer webinars and mini-courses to bring in new email subscribers. This is a great way to build your list because it can be an ongoing relationship, and you can continue to provide value without having to sell anything at all!

Use your blog posts as an opportunity for people to opt-in for more information about what’s been mentioned in the post itself, or if there’s something else they might be interested in learning more about (such as how you became a professional writer).

If they sign up through those links, they’ll be added directly to your list so that you can stay connected with them over time.

When someone signs up for one of my courses on Udemy or Skillshare or any other platform where I teach I ask them if they’d like me (the instructor) or one of my experts (whoever has created this specific course) to send them updates about new classes we create in the future so that we know where our audience is growing from month-to-month!
