Once you’ve installed the plugin, activate it and go to the “Settings” tab. You’ll see a list of options with fields and drop-down menus that allow you to tell Yoast about your business. Make sure these are all filled out correctly for each page of your website:

This should be consistent across all pages of your site. A common mistake is using only one tagline or title in a header, but not making it consistent on every page (like “Acme Pest Control’s Blog”). The more information you can provide here, the better!

This can be entered in several different ways: street address (123 Main Street), city/town/village name + postal code + state; street address + ZIP code; latitude/longitude coordinates; business category / keywords (i.e., “pest control”); etc. It’s important that whatever method you choose is consistent across all pages too!

Once you’ve got your website optimized for local search, it’s time to submit a sitemap of your site to Google Search Console. Simply navigate to the “Sitemaps” tab in the left-hand navigation panel and click “Create Sitemap.” You will then be prompted with a few questions:
- Are you using an XML sitemap? If so, choose “XML Sitemap.”
- What format is your XML file? If you’re not sure what format it should be in, select “I don’t know.”
- Do you want Googlebot (Google’s crawler) to check this URL every day or only when it crawls the root directory of my site?
Choose daily checking if possible; otherwise, leave it blank because there isn’t much use in checking pages that aren’t being indexed anyway!
Show Off Your Real Reviews On Your Website
If you have reviews from Google and other review sites, show them off! Display them on your website in a way that makes sense for your business. For example:
- Show off your real reviews from Google, Yelp, and other review sites.
- Show customers that you are proud of your work by showcasing the best projects from the last few years (e.g., 2014-2017).
- Showcase some of the most recent work done by your company so that visitors can see what’s new and exciting about it (e.g., a new collection/project launched within the last 6 months).

Optimize All Of The Pages On Your Website For Search Engines Including The Privacy Policy And Terms Of Service
There are several things to include on all of your pages:
Meta descriptions and titles (Metadata) – The metadata for each page should include an accurate description of the content, as well as a title that accurately describes the content. This information is used to identify keywords in search results.
H1 and H2 tags – Headings play an important role in how search engines read your website’s content. Headings are formatted with HTML headings tags such as and, which help users identify what information on a page is most important or should be read first.
Alt Tags for Images – Images should always have alt tags because they can help readers find text-based information when images cannot be seen, either due to image blindness or because they are turned off by the user (for example, those using screen readers).
On average, alt tags provide around three times more impressions than do non-alt images so it’s important not only that you include them but also that you optimize them correctly!
Redirect from Old Domain Name – If you have moved URLs from one domain name (example: oldURL.com) then make sure there is a redirect in place so visitors don’t get lost when visiting pages from this older URL structure!
It’s also recommended that 404 pages return 301 status codes whenever possible.
