Create Killer Titles and Openings That Create Interest

When it comes to creating the perfect title and opening paragraph, there are a few tips you can use to create killer titles that generate interest in your content.

Are you passionate about writing and eager to turn your blog into a thriving business? Discover actionable strategies in our guide to transforming your blog into a six-figure freelance writing business, and start monetizing your writing expertise today.

Use Keywords And Keyword Phrases

Your title should include words or phrases that people search for when they’re looking for information on a topic of interest to them.

These are called “keywords,” and they’re especially important if you want your blog post or article to show up in Google’s search results (which is what we want).

If someone searches Google for [how do I make bread], then posts titled “How To Make Bread” would be more likely to show up than those without any keywords at all.

Use The Right Length Of Title

The ideal length for a blog post title varies by platform and audience some of my own titles have been as short as four words long, while others have been much longer (12+ words).

For example, if you’re writing an article about how puppies learn new tricks faster than kittens do, it might not make sense to write: “Why Kittens Learn New Tricks Faster Than Puppies Do.” Instead try something like: “Kittens Learn Fetch Faster Than Dogs Do.”

This will give readers more details about what this post is about without giving away too much before they read it!

The same principle applies when choosing how long each paragraph should be because longer sentences help keep readers interested while shorter ones might make them lose interest before even finishing reading them entirely!

Make Your Headlines Reader-Friendly

I’m sure you have heard this before, but it bears repeating: headlines are the most important part of your content.

It’s no secret that people are busy and they don’t want to spend too much time reading your post if they aren’t going to get anything out of it. So, make sure your headline clearly states what the reader will gain from reading your article (or video).

Don’t overuse question marks or exclamation points in an attempt to be clever; instead, use them sparingly when appropriate to keep things clear and concise.

And when writing numbers (say, for example, 2 million), remember that readers’ eyes tend to skip over words with lots of letters or numbers (such as “million”).

Instead of writing “two million dollars,” try writing “two million” instead your readers will thank you!

Create A Great Opening Paragraph

It’s important to have an opening paragraph that captures the reader’s attention and makes them want to keep reading. Here are some things you can do:

  • Give the reader a sense of urgency. This is something I did in my first blog post, where I wrote about how much money could be made within 72 hours.
  • Mention something that relates to your topic so they feel like they’re getting a sneak peek at what’s coming up in future posts. Try asking a question or using an interesting quote if you can’t think of anything else!
  • Tell a story people love stories!

Make Your Content As Visually Appealing As Possible

Even if you’re an amazing writer, chances are your posts will be more likely to get shared if they include visuals. Images and videos can make a blog post that much better, as well as give it a longer lifespan on social media.

The best way to add images is by using a visual content editor like Canva or PicMonkey (or even WordPress). These tools allow you to create beautiful images for free! If you don’t have any experience with design software, this is what I recommend doing first.

If you feel like creating your own images from scratch is too difficult or time consuming, there are also plenty of free stock photo websites out there (like pixabay) that let anyone use their photos for personal projects such as blogs or presentations.

Or check out Unsplash they provide high-quality royalty free photos every week!

Use An Eye-Catching Feature Image

The first step to getting more organic traffic is to create an attractive, eye-catching feature image.

This is the image that will appear at the top of your blog post, and it sends a signal about what your post is about.

You want a high quality image that’s relevant to both the content and topic of your blog post. This can be something like an infographic or logo from another brand it depends on what you’re writing about and how much time you have available!

Don’t Have Content That’s Too Text-Heavy Or Uses Small Font Sizes

You want your content to be readable, which means making sure that the font size is big enough. You also want it to be easy-to-read and make sense even when someone has dyslexia or vision problems.

This means using a clean and clear font that’s easy for everyone to see, regardless of the platform or device they use.

I recommend using a sans serif font like Open Sans or Roboto Slab if you want to go with something modern and professional. For more traditional brands, I usually like Garamond or Georgia as my go-to choices but there are plenty of other options out there!

Use Blog Post Templates to Keep Your Blog Organized

Optimize Your Posts For Search Engines

Use the right keyword in the title and in the first few paragraphs of your blog post. Your title should include a keyword that is relevant to your article, but don’t go overboard.

It’s hard to rank well if you have a generic-looking title like “Blogging Tips: How To Make Money Blogging On WordPress!”

Instead, create something that is more specific and descriptive like “How I Went From 0 to 1K Organic Visitors to My Blog in 15 Days By Using These 5 Simple Steps.”

  • Use keywords in meta descriptions and URL names as well as the alt text for images to make sure Google can properly understand what your page is about.
  • Comment on other sites that are related to yours by leaving helpful comments so you can get some backlinks from their websites (in addition to some new followers!).

Write Guest Posts On Other People’s Blogs

Write Guest Posts on Other People’s Blogs

Let’s get your name out there. Guest posting is a great way to get traffic to your blog, gain exposure and build relationships with other bloggers. For this to work, you need to find sites in your niche that accept guest posts.

If you don’t know where these are or how to find them, check out this list of 35 sites that accept guest posts by Moz.

Once you find one (or more), email the blogger who posted similar content and let them know about your article idea. Most times they’ll give you their approval right away because they want their readership to grow!

Build Backlinks To Your Blog Posts With Content Promotions

If you want to get your blog content in front of a lot of people, there are a few things you can do:

Promote your blog posts with social media. Post links to your article on Facebook and Instagram, then use those platforms’ analytics tools to see how much traffic it drove. You’ll be surprised how quickly this can snowball into a lot of readers for free!

Get email subscribers by promoting your articles via email blasts and other campaigns. If someone likes an article enough to sign up for more content from you, chances are they’ll check out any future posts as well and so will their friends!

Guest post on other sites or contribute guest articles yourself (that way you don’t have any competition).

When people read guest content, they’ve already decided they like the writer’s style; this makes them more likely to click through when reading future posts by that same person or checking out their own website/blog.

Use “content promotion” services like Outbrain or Taboola where they’ll help get exposure for your most popular pieces if advertisers pay them enough money (which is usually less than $100).

This isn’t ideal because it gives away some control over where/when/how often those ads appear but if nothing else seems feasible right now then go ahead and try it! It could still bring decent results even though these services aren’t great options compared to many others available these days.

(There’s also always manual link building which involves finding places where other sites link back towards yours.)

Get Social With Different Social Media Platforms

Social media is a powerful tool for businesses, bloggers, and entrepreneurs. It’s a great way to connect with your audience and get them interested in what you have to offer.

There are many different social media platforms out there, so it’s important to know how each of these platforms can benefit your blog or business:

Facebook

The largest social network in the world has over 2 billion active users! It’s also one of the most important social networks to use if you’re trying to build an audience for your blog or business because it has such a large user base.

You can set up a Facebook page for free and then use their advertising tools (such as boosted posts) to promote what you have going on at any given time.

Instagram

This is another very popular platform with over 800 million monthly active users who love sharing photos!

If you like taking pictures or creating images that could be shared online then this might be something worth looking into further.

Because many people enjoy seeing what other people are up to via Instagram posts from accounts that they follow regularly on their newsfeeds every day when scrolling through their feeds at times throughout their weekdays.

Before bedtime every night when checking messages sent by others after work hours during lunch breaks when waking up early mornings before going through long days working hard doing whatever needs to be done around home offices.

While commuting back-and-forth between jobs outside town locals living near city limits within suburbs living within proximity urban areas nearby towns located near cities located far away states away counties miles apart interstate highways.

Using Pinterest To Drive Traffic To Blog Posts

Pinterest is a great place to drive traffic to your blog posts.

If you’re like most bloggers, one of the best ways you can get traction and grow your email list is by reaching more people on Pinterest.

Pinterest is also a great place to build your brand and authority in your niche.

It’s easy for me to see how many people have pinned my content and how much engagement I am getting from Pinterest boards that have featured images from my blog post:

Include Share Buttons On All Of Your Blog Posts For Easy Social Sharing

One of the best ways to get your blog posts in front of new eyeballs is to make it easy for readers to share your content on social media. You can do this by adding share buttons throughout your blog posts so that people can easily spread the word about your writing.

Here’s how:

  • Customize the look, size, and placement of the buttons so that they match the rest of your site design.
  • Have at least one button for sharing on Facebook and Twitter (and if possible, another one for LinkedIn).
  • Create additional buttons if you want readers to be able to share content via email or other networks like Pinterest or Reddit just don’t make them too crowded!

Focus On Long-Form Content For Better SEO Results

Long-form content is also a smart move as it has more chances of being shared, read and read more often. Shorter posts might get shared once or twice but not many people will read them.

But with longer posts, you can expect to get more traffic because they will rank better on search engines and drive more organic traffic back to your site.

Choose Keywords Carefully And Strategically

The most important step to increasing organic traffic is choosing your keywords carefully and strategically.

When you’re picking keywords for your blog, you should be looking for words that are relevant to the content of your post, well researched, and likely to be searched for by real people.

You also want to avoid keywords that are too competitive (otherwise known as “long-tail keywords”), too broad, or specific.
