Details help you remember your own experiences more clearly. If you share an experience with someone else and they ask about it later on, do you have trouble remembering all the details? 

When you go through this exercise yourself, it’s easy for your brain to gloss over some of the smaller parts and focus on just the big picture instead-but if you force yourself to remember everything (even if it seems irrelevant).
