To ensure that the freelancers and clients are able to work on Upwork in a safe and secure environment, the company has developed some rules and regulations for both parties. For example, you can’t use Upwork as your personal social media platform. 

If you have an Instagram account and want to post about your life, please create one specifically for that purpose and don’t use your Upwork account for it.

The first rule involves working on Upwork itself: freelancers cannot hire other people from the site or pay them using any money brought in through their positions on the platform (this includes paying someone offsite).

If you have more than one Upwork account, we will suspend both. We do this to ensure that freelancers aren’t violating the terms of our website by offering their services under multiple identities. 

Unfortunately, there is no way to merge accounts into one if you’ve created more than one profile on Upwork (for whatever reason), then they will be closed and all projects associated with those profiles will be terminated.

If you didn’t realize that having multiple accounts was a violation until after the fact, don’t worry: we understand that sometimes people might think they can only sign up for an account once in order to access certain features or get help from customer service staff members who are only available through email support requests or direct messages via Twitter/Facebook/Google+.
