I love making videos on YouTube. It’s a great way to share my thoughts, connect with people around the world, and have some fun.
But even though I’ve been making videos for years now, there are still aspects of creating content that catch me by surprise especially when it comes to writing scripts!

Know The Format Of Your Show Or Episode
The first thing you need to do is make sure you know the format of your show or episode. You may be making a short video or an episode in a series. If it’s a series, know how many people will appear in each episode, and how long they’ll speak for.
Your intro should reflect this information; if more people are talking than usual (like in an interview) then it should be shorter than normal because it will be followed by longer segments from those guests.
For example: “Hi everyone! Welcome to another edition of ‘Ask Our Experts’ where we answer your questions about [topic].” This would be perfect for an interview-style show where one person speaks for several minutes at a time (for example, on camera).
On the other hand: “Hey guys! I’m so excited today to talk about [topic].” That could work well as an introduction after two hosts have already spoken together and also works nicely when one host wants to thank all their viewers before diving into their main topic of discussion.

Write An Outline First
In the video, you’ll want to be organized and consistent by using bullet points. This will make your script easy to read, understand and follow.
The outline is also the best place to keep track of what you’ve already said in the video so that you don’t repeat yourself.
If you think about it like this: if I’m watching a Youtube video with a friend who knows nothing about my topic, how would I explain it? An outline is a kind of like having them sitting next to me as I write my script!
Read It Out Loud
Reading your script out loud is a great way to get an idea of how it will sound when you record the video. You should try to say it naturally, and listen for places where the flow sounds awkward or unnatural.
If any sentences sound weird because of a missing word or two, add them in. You can also try swapping words around to see if that improves things.
Finally, remember that this is just an exercise at this point you’re not recording anything yet! So if reading out loud makes something sound better, then go ahead and use it!

Once you have the general idea of what the script is going to include, the next step is figuring out how to properly introduce your guest(s).
This is important because it’s not only a great way for them and their audience to get familiar with you and each other, but also provides an opportunity for you to set up the show as a whole.
If your episode will be in video format, then this intro can also be used as a “breathing room” between scenes or sections (depending on whether your videos are more like vlogs or scripted shows).
It might seem unnecessary at first glance but keep in mind that different people have different viewing habits. Some may want more information upfront while others prefer getting into the meat of things right away.
If there are multiple guests involved in one show, then having an intro will be even more beneficial since all parties need time together before diving into any discussion about each others’ work/life balance/etc., etc., etc…
Keep Your Script Short And Focused
You don’t need to use every word in the English language. It’s better if you don’t. You want your script to be short and focused you want your video to be engaging, not boring!
If there are small details that make sense for you but would be too confusing or unnecessary for viewers at home, leave them out!
Don’t waste time on things that don’t relate to the subject matter of your video. Also, don’t repeat yourself more than necessary (and always avoid filler words like “um” or “like”).
Remember that jargon is only useful when talking with people who already know what it means; if possible keep jargon out of your scripts unless it is necessary for clarity or humor (or both).
And finally: avoid using words that don’t mean anything to most audiences a good rule of thumb here is: if someone has never heard it before and doesn’t understand what it means after reading through your script once.
Or twice without having any context clues from previous lines in which those same unfamiliar terms were used previously then chances are good they won’t understand what said term means either after watching/hearing about whatever situation/object/concept/etc.
