They tend not to set goals either because they don’t know how or they think they’ll fail at them anyway so why bother? This kind of thinking will hold back your progress no matter what industry or career path you choose. You’ve set a goal and identified your audience. Now the final step is to take action. Planning is important, but if you don’t take action to begin moving towards your goal, you’re not going to get anywhere.
For example: Let’s say your goal is $15k per month by March 31st 2017. Your first step should be to create an outline of what success looks like when it comes to that specific goal (e.g., 200 articles written).
Then set a deadline (e.g., December 15th 2016) so that you can start committing yourself daily towards achieving this outcome sooner rather than later in order for it not only become part of who you are as a writer but also allow yourself enough time before then end date of March 31st 2017 when things start getting busy again after Christmas holidays have ended (or whatever time period applies).
Next step? Start writing those 200 articles! But how do we know when we have achieved our goals? Well…
Ask For Help
Sometimes, it’s hard to ask for help. But you know what? Help is out there.
You can ask someone in your network who knows more than you do about a specific topic or skill, or who has more time to assist you with a project. If they say yes and are willing to help, great! If not, that’s okay too; at least now you’re aware of who might be able to assist if needed in the future.

Learn From Others
The easiest way to improve your skills is to learn from others. A mentor can help you avoid common mistakes and show you the ropes in an area. If a paid teacher isn’t available, there are plenty of free resources online (like YouTube).

Write about something that interests and excites you. Write about what makes your heart sing! If it’s not an area of expertise or interest for other people, then don’t worry about that—just make sure it’s something that keeps your motivation going strong through the long hours spent writing (and rewriting) articles for the internet.
Broaden Your Horizons
You have to broaden your horizons. You have to read, watch movies and listen to podcasts. You need to talk and travel and learn new skills. You must experiment and try new things, even if you don’t want to!
You should take classes and be curious about whatever catches your eye. Try something new every month–in fact, I’d recommend that you do this even if it isn’t possible for you financially at the moment!

Be Tough On Yourself
Setting deadlines, even if they’re not necessarily as hard-and-fast as you’d like them to be, is an essential part of staying on track. It’s important that you don’t let yourself get off track too often with things like work or school things that can pull you away from your time to write articles. You should have a specific amount of time set aside for writing, and stick to it.
Be honest with yourself about what works best for you when it comes to getting in the zone and putting out quality content at a steady pace.
Some people are able to go into another room or somewhere quiet; others prefer music playing while they write; still others need complete silence and focus in order to get anything done at all! Whatever method works best for you, use it consistently so that it becomes second nature you’ll find yourself being more productive this way because there won’t be any surprises when it comes down to crunching numbers later on in the process.”

Take criticism. It’s the best way to learn, grow and improve your writing skills. When you write a typical piece of content for an article, you have to publish it before finding out whether or not people like it. With so much time spent on writing articles and books – sometimes thousands of hours – this is frustrating because we want feedback from our audience as soon as possible so we can make edits if needed.
It seems that most online writers are scared of criticism (myself included). We don’t want negative comments on our work because they might make us feel bad or upset us personally, but this isn’t how feedback works! Feedback is meant to help you improve your craft so that the next piece turns out better than ever before.
That means there should be no right/wrong when receiving critiques; only ways forward towards learning more about yourself and improving in areas where you may need some work yet don’t realize how helpful these critiques will be until they come in handy later down the line when completing another article or book project entirely different from what was written before (such as this one).
Don’t Focus On Money
When you think about your ability to make money, don’t focus on the money itself. Instead, focus on what value you provide for others. Focus on the results you achieve and how many people benefit from them. Focus on the impact you have on others, and what that means for your community.
Focus on how much value you bring to your customers, rather than how much money they pay for it.
Write Long, Publish Short
If you’re wondering how long it will take you to write an article, don’t worry about it. Write as much as possible, then cut your writing down later.
If you’re wondering how long it will take you to edit an article, don’t worry about it. Edit until the words sound right in your head, then do some more editing later.
If you’re wondering how long it will take to publish an article on a blog or website, don’t worry about it. Publish whenever there’s a place for an article at that particular website; if no such place exists yet (as is often the case), create one yourself!
Stop Being A Perfectionist
You don’t have to be perfect.
In fact, you should stop worrying about being perfect.
It’s very important to remember that the goal of writing is not perfection, but rather to get your point across in a way that makes it easy for your reader to understand. If there are typos or grammar mistakes, most likely no one will notice them and if they do, so what? You’re just going to write another article in a week or two anyway!
Your readers will appreciate the fact that you are giving them valuable content on a regular basis and aren’t focused on making sure every sentence is perfect before publishing each post (trust me they won’t notice). So don’t worry about length either; just write however much feels right for each topic without worrying too much about whether or not it fits within an arbitrary word count limit.
Once again: stop being so cautious and careful with every single word!
Outline Your Work Before You Start Writing
Before you start writing, write a few paragraphs about the main points you want to cover in your article. This is called an outline. You can use the outline as a guide for what you’re going to write about and how you’re going to structure your work.
When I’m writing an article, I usually begin with an introduction and then create subheadings for each section of my article, such as “Introduction” or “Section 2: How To Write An Introductory Paragraph.” This helps me figure out what information will go where, which makes it easier when I actually start writing the piece itself.
Edit As You Go Along
Editing as you go along can be a big help. It’s easy to lose your train of thought, focus or flow when writing long-form content. If you start editing at the end, it will be difficult for your brain to keep track of all the things you’ve already written while also trying to figure out what needs changing. Editing as you go along is much easier because it lets your brain switch between tasks more easily, which helps prevent burnout and burnout is no fun!
Brainstorm Ideas Every Day
You don’t have to be a master at writing.
You simply need to be able to write down your ideas and turn them into something amazing!
When an idea comes to you, write it down immediately. Keep a notebook with you at all times so that whenever an idea pops into your head, you can quickly get it out of there before it disappears forever. (If you have trouble remembering where things are in the house, then I recommend using Evernote.)
I’m always thinking of new ideas for articles or blog posts, but I end up forgetting them because they’re not written down somewhere else. I’ve learned now that if I don’t write those ideas down when they come through my mind then there’s no chance
I’ll remember them later on,and this applies whether or not I’m waiting for my coffee in Starbucks or riding the bus home from work. In fact, one of the easiest places for me to think up new content ideas is while taking showers because who doesn’t love getting clean?

Keep A List Of “I Don’t Know” Topics To Write About Later

You can also use this as a starting point for writing articles: “I know nothing about coding, but I just read an article on 10 tips to help beginners learn coding faster and now I want to write something similar for my audience so they can get started as quickly as possible!” If this happens often enough, it will become part of your brand.

Use Notes on your phone or tablet, Evernote, a physical notebook, pen and paper, voice recorder (for interviews), dictaphone or camera to capture ideas as they come up during the day. This is the most important part of this process because it helps you remember our ideas in a way that can be easily accessed later when you need it most: when you’re writing an article or blogging post!

A good rule of thumb is to spend as much time and effort on writing an intriguing title as you would a cover letter for a job application or a résumé to get into college.
When writing the body of the article, focus your energy on answering that question or explaining that statement or making that promise. Your readers will come back because they want to know what happens next and by starting with their curiosity in mind, you’ll keep them engaged until they get there.
