“Write Drunk. Edit Sober”

In the same way, you know what makes a good song, you should have an idea of what makes a great script. The best way I’ve found is to write drunk. The more you overthink it, the worse off your video will be.

Instead of being afraid to be vulnerable and honest with your viewers, let them see who YOU are as an artist.

Don’t hide behind some generic persona that doesn’t represent who YOU are as an artist; let them see YOUR story through YOUR words and YOUR vision of the real you! Let them laugh at your jokes; let them get angry if they feel like it;

Let them cry when something sad happens on screen (and don’t worry about how long it takes), but most importantly…let them feel something!

Building a strong foundation for your video script is essential to its success. Check out our guide on how to write better video scripts to learn valuable tips on improving your scriptwriting skills.

The Rule Of Three

The Rule of Three is a writing principle that says that by repeating three things, you create more impact.

The first example of the rule of three comes from ancient Greece: “The gods met in council and agreed on an undertaking: to destroy the city of Troy.”

A second example would be “One for all, and all for one.” The third would be “My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father. Prepare to die!”

In video script writing, it’s important to use the rule of three because people are busy and tend not to watch anything longer than 3 minutes.

You could make a video about how great your product is but then no one will watch it because they don’t want something long or boring (and who doesn’t love a good fight?).

If your script uses this technique well enough, people will come back again and again because they know they’ll get something valuable out of each time they click play!

Use Real Conversational Language

You should use words that are common to your audience, easy to understand, specific to your niche, and relevant to the topic.

You should use conversational language.

Don’t use long sentences and complex words that nobody understands or cares about. Don’t go overboard with jargon either; keep it simple for the viewer’s sake and make sure it sounds natural (or as natural as possible!).

If a word or phrase is too technical for me, then I’m not going to watch another minute of your video.

Because I feel like I’m watching someone talk at me rather than talking with me in a way that’s comfortable for both parties involved which don’t exactly help anyone get views or sales!

Leave Out The Unnecessary Information

You should have a clear idea of what your audience needs to know and what they don’t.

If you’re doing a video about your new product, for example, it’s not necessary to tell them how awesome it is. Instead, focus on how they can benefit from using it and the problems they face without it.

It’s also important not to talk about yourself too much in the script because that can make people feel disconnected from you and if they don’t feel connected with you, there’s no way they’ll want to learn more about what you do or buy anything from you.

Keep in mind that people buy products because of their wants and needs (not yours).

Overcoming The Fear Of Being In Front Of The Camera

You can overcome the fear of being in front of the camera by not being afraid to be yourself. Don’t hold back, but also don’t try to be someone else.

Vulnerability is often seen as a weakness, but it’s one of our greatest strengths. When we’re vulnerable, we connect with people on a deeper level than if we were to just play it safe and pretend that everything is perfect all the time.

The best way to make mistakes is to make them fast, learn from them quickly and then move on with your life!

As long as you’re true to yourself while doing this (and not taking advantage), then you’ll never have any regrets about what might have happened if things had gone differently.

Because at least when you look back at those moments in your past; no matter how many mistakes or wrong decisions were made along the way; there will always be something positive about it that makes its mark forever upon your heart for better or worse!

So don’t let fear get in between where GOD wants you to go – Go For It!!

“In Their Face” Is The Key To Creating Content That People Will Connect With

You need to put the camera in your face. You’re going to use a tripod, turn it on and be ready at all times.

You also need to make sure that the camera is in focus and everything else is right. I always recommend getting a wide-angle lens because it focuses on everything around you so you can see more things in the frame of your video.

The next thing would be using a microphone, either an external one or an internal one if you have one built into the camera that comes with it.

Study Interviews On YouTube To See How Anyone Can Become A Great Interviewer

To learn how to be an amazing interviewer, you should study the interviews on YouTube.

You might be thinking: “What makes these videos different from all of the other ones I’ve seen?” Well, these videos are different because they’re interviewing people who are experts in their field. The host will ask questions that get straight to the point and keep the interview interesting.

You Can Learn A Lot From Them!

When you study these interviews, you’ll see how anyone can become a great interviewer by asking questions that generate answers that are educational and entertaining for their audience.

Keep Things Simple

When it comes to video scripts, you want to keep things simple. You don’t need a big word bank or a full dictionary of adjectives at your disposal.

Not only will this make your script more engaging and easier for viewers to read, but it will also help keep you from getting overly distracted by the creative possibilities that can come along with writing a script.

Remember: the goal isn’t just to write something that sounds good it’s also about how well you get your message across in an easy-to-understand way. That’s why I recommend using short sentences that are full of simple words and language (e.g., “I liked these shoes!”).

Write Your Script To Invoke Emotion

To create a reader who is compelled to click, click, click you need to invoke an emotional response. Not only should you use words that are emotionally charged, but you’ll also want to organize your script in such a way as to bring out the emotions of your audience.

You can do this by starting strong with an attention-grabbing first sentence or paragraph that evokes emotion. Don’t start slow and boring! Make sure you stir them up right away!

By starting at a high point and working your way down (once again), you will ensure that each scene builds upon the previous one until there’s no turning back for your readership they’ve been swept up in all of the excitement, and action and drama of it all!

Always Start With The Outcome In Mind

The first thing you need to do before writing is deciding on the outcome you want. I know, it sounds obvious. But many people forget that they need to have a clear outcome in mind before they start writing.

One good way to get started with this is by answering these questions:

  • What is my goal for this video?
  • Who am I targeting with this video and what do they want?

These are important because if you don’t know who your audience is, how can you give them what they want? It will be easier for them to connect with the message if they are told exactly why they should care about it.

Practice Your Lines… A LOT! (But Do Not Memorize)

It’s a common misconception that good actors don’t practice their lines. Many of them rehearse their scenes multiple times in front of family and friends before shooting them.

Why? Because they know that if they don’t practice enough, they will probably make some mistakes during filming. And no one wants to look at a video with a lot of mistakes on it!

You need to treat your video script like you would treat an actor’s script: you should be able to speak off the cuff with confidence when delivering your lines as though it were second nature.

That means practicing over and over again until everything feels natural and fluid for you (and for others who will hear/see).

Use Your ACTING Skills!

You can use your body language and facial expressions to add a lot of emotion to the video.

  • Move around the scene using your body language and facial expressions.
  • Use your voice to add emphasis and excitement to specific moments in the story you are telling, making sure that it matches what is happening on screen.
  • Use hand gestures when emphasizing words or phrases within a sentence. You can also use hand motions as punctuation marks at the end of sentences for added effect! It’s not just about what we say with our words; it’s about how we say them too!
  • Our brains process audio better than visual stimuli so this is especially important when creating an engaging script full of dialogue between characters in a movie-like fashion (i.e., two people having a conversation).

Make A Connection Through Vulnerability

One of the best ways to make a connection with your audience is by being open and honest about yourself.

Don’t be afraid to share your failures, setbacks and fears. You’ll find it’s much easier for people to relate to you if they know that you’ve been through similar challenges as them.

Don’t just tell them about these things though – show them! Share personal stories that are relevant to what you’re talking about as part of an engaging narrative. The best way to do this is by weaving in some real-life examples into your script when appropriate (more on that later).

Sharing your dreams can also help create a deeper connection with viewers who feel connected to their own dreams or want more information about how others achieved theirs

Don’t Be Afraid To Talk About Yourself!

Another thing you shouldn’t be afraid of is talking about yourself. It’s probably the most important piece of advice I can give you. If you’re going to create a video script, then make sure it reflects who you are and what your brand stands for.

You have to be confident in who you are and what makes your company different from everyone else out there.

If people don’t know what sets you apart from the crowd, they won’t take the time to learn more about your products or services no matter how awesome they may be!

When talking about yourself, keep in mind that this isn’t an opportunity for bragging or self-praise. Instead, try sharing some stories with viewers that will help them get to know who exactly is behind this business venture.

For example: “I used to struggle with weight issues since childhood,” or “I had my ups and downs as an entrepreneur but here I am today.”

Conclusion

Creating a killer video script can be the difference between getting views and sales, or not.

The key to creating an amazing video is to remember that it’s not about you it’s about your audience! Write your script with them in mind and use tools like the Rule of Three or “In Their Face” techniques to get their attention.

Finally, we suggest practicing your lines over and over before filming so that you know exactly what you want to say when filming begins; this will keep things natural instead of stiff or “canned.”
