1) Get Up Early And Write
This is the key to success in my opinion. If you can get up at the butt crack of dawn and write for a few hours, then you have a good chance of making progress with your writing. So, what should you write about?
First of all, it has to be something that interests you and that’s important because if it doesn’t interest you or if there’s no passion there, then nothing will come out of it. You’ll just be going through the motions and not enjoying yourself or putting any real effort into it.
So start off by figuring out what kind of writing makes your heart sing and try to do more of that kind! If possible think about how this type of writing can also help other people too – make sure every piece has some meaning for someone else as well as yourself!

2) Don’t Be Afraid To Kill Your Darlings
If you’re a writer, editing is your best friend. It’s the difference between self-publishing a book that will sell or one that won’t. The same goes for ghostwriting: don’t be afraid to edit ruthlessly.
I know it’s hard to cut out words, characters, and even scenes that you’ve poured so much time into and I get it! After all, as an author who has written my own books, I’m familiar with this feeling of attachment to my writing.
But there’s no getting around it: if something isn’t working in your story or doesn’t add anything meaningful to the plot (or worse yet, takes away from what makes your story great), then it needs to go by any means necessary!
3) Focus On One Project At A Time
You might have heard the saying, “Many hands make light work.” And for ghostwriters, it couldn’t be more true.
In fact, if you’re working on a book project that requires research or interviewing experts for information in your manuscript, having help will make everything go much smoother and faster than trying to do it all yourself.
The problem with multitasking is that it doesn’t allow us to focus on one thing at a time say writing a book chapter while simultaneously editing another chapter.
Or even checking your email messages or answering phone calls which can be detrimental in terms of productivity and quality of work produced in those milliseconds not spent focusing solely on any one task at hand.”

The best way to know your book inside and out, is to read your book over and over again. It’s not enough to simply skim through it once or twice. You need to take it slow, read each word carefully and slowly digest the content of each sentence.
This is how you can get a real feel for how well your writing flows, how well it works as a whole, and whether there are any areas that are too long or too boring (or maybe even just need some editing!).
You also need to make sure you understand why everyone else involved in this project thinks they know what they’re talking about even if they don’t!
This means taking time out from writing (if possible) so that you can go back through their notes with an objective eye and see if their advice actually makes sense after all this time has passed since the original draft was written.
Remember: no matter how good an editor may seem at first glance; no matter how great their credentials might be; no matter what kind of experience they claim to have with books like yours they will still miss things because every manuscript is unique!
5) Be Willing To Collaborate With Your Clients
One of the most important parts of ghostwriting is understanding that you and your client are going to need each other’s help, whether it be with brainstorming ideas or editing rough drafts.
If you’re not willing to listen to feedback and work together as a team, then it will be hard for both of you to come away satisfied with the final product.

6) Let Your Client Know When You Need More Details
First, ask your client what they need you to write. Then, ask them how they want it written. Then, ask them how best to structure the piece and where the most important information should go to make it compelling and readable.
And then, once everything is agreed upon and you begin writing and especially if there are any changes along the way ask again! People sometimes get nervous when you’re asking questions about their work so often (especially at first), but don’t be afraid to do this.
Questions are good! They help everyone understand better what’s expected of them and how best to achieve those goals together.
It’s also okay for you as a ghostwriter not only to say “Hey! This isn’t enough information!” but also “Hey! I’m not sure I’ve got time for this!” or “Hey! I’m not sure that my skillset can handle all of these revisions.”
Your relationship with your client will be stronger if both parties understand each other’s needs clearly at all times and if those needs change over time (as they surely will).
Don’t be afraid of asking for more time or money or additional help from someone else who might have expertise in areas where yours falls short.
7) Be A Good Listener
Good listening skills are of the utmost importance for a ghostwriter. After all, you’re going to work with other people who aren’t you and their stories are going to be just as important as yours.
Good listeners don’t interrupt or try to take over the conversation at every turn; they know when it’s time for them to listen, and when it’s time for them to speak up and share their opinions.
Good listening skills can be learned in fact, most people tend not to listen well because they feel like they already know what someone else is going to say before they say it (which isn’t always true!).
But even if you’re an excellent listener by nature, there’s still room for improvement in your ability to understand what someone else is saying.
And that means taking time out of your busy schedule (which might involve writing) every day so that you practice these skills until they become second nature before jumping back into your next project!

8) Don’t Demand Too Much Of Your Clients’ Time

You will be asked to make changes to your book. Know that this is a normal part of the process and it’s not personal. At the same time, know that you have final say on what goes in and what stays out.
And don’t be afraid to push back on suggestions from editors or readers (or anyone else!) who you disagree with. This is your book, after all, and as such it should represent only your voice, not theirs.
If there are changes you want made but can’t get through your editor or publisher, try asking them again once the project has been sold to another publisher (if it hasn’t already).
10) Don’t Feel Bad If You Miss Deadlines Or Don’t Complete Everything By The End of the Date
Being a ghostwriter means that you are expected to work hard and deliver a great manuscript. However, it also means that you are not a slave to your clients. You should not feel bad if your client misses deadlines or doesn’t pay on time.
Treating your clients with respect will help them be more efficient in their own lives and make sure they can live up to their end of the bargain too!
