Show Up For Every Shift

The first step to landing your dream job as an esthetician is showing up for every shift.

Showing up on time, being prepared and professional, willing to do whatever it takes to help out your coworkers and customers, and being a team player are all essential parts of being a good employee.

You should also be able to communicate effectively with both coworkers and the public you’re going to need these skills if you want to get promoted!

Be A Student Of The Industry

Once you’ve decided to become an esthetician, the next step is to understand the industry and everything that goes into it. It’s important to understand how the industry works, including how your services are marketed, priced, and sold.

To start learning about the industry, ask questions! The beauty experts at your local spa or salon can provide invaluable information about their own experiences with this career path.

To learn even more about what it takes to succeed as an esthetician and make sure it’s something that makes sense for your personality read up on what other people have done in similar situations by reading books or articles written by experts in the field (or even just online blogs).

You might also want to attend conferences hosted by industry associations like Estheticians Trade Association International (ETA) or International Spa Association (ISPA).

Don’t forget about online resources like YouTube videos that can help you hone new skills for such things as facials and waxing applications!

Ask For Feedback From Supervisors And Clients Alike

Asking for feedback is an important part of your job as an esthetician. This feedback can come in many forms, including:

Your supervisor’s thoughts on your performance and attitude. Whether or not you’re a perfectionist like me, the truth is that there will always be areas where you can improve.

By asking for this kind of feedback from someone who knows what they’re talking about – like your boss or mentor – you’ll have a better idea of how to improve your skillset. Remember: no matter how good at something you are, there’s always room to grow!

Client satisfaction surveys are another great way to get feedback on your work ethic and personality traits (and also just having fun).

Ask clients if they’d be willing to fill out a survey after each visit so that over time, this data will help make improvements in everything from scheduling availability times during high demand days/times down to pricing structure changes based on client preferences (i.e., some people may want shorter sessions but more frequent appointments).

Take On Extra Responsibilities That Will Help You Grow As An Employee And Professional

Asking for more responsibility at your current job is a great way to show your boss that you’re ready and willing to grow, learn new skills, and be the best employee possible.

Asking for more responsibility shows them that you’re invested in the company’s success and that you have ambition all things employers look for during their hiring process.

So how do you find opportunities? Start by taking note of what needs doing around the office when there aren’t any pressing deadlines on everyone’s plates (or just ask).

Then be proactive about asking if some projects or tasks need tending to that way nobody has to point out what needs to be done before anyone else can start doing it!

Stand Up For Your Clients

Stand up for your clients. If someone is rude or disrespectful, take it upon yourself to protect your client from that person.

As an esthetician, you have a lot of power over the services that are being rendered and can easily change the dynamics by refusing to allow someone who is behaving poorly.

Although this might be uncomfortable at first, it’s important because if you stand up for them, they will feel safe and respected in your care.

Ask The Right Questions And Then Listen

Asking the right questions is just as important as coming to a job interview prepared, and even more so if you are interviewing for your dream position. At any type of interview, you should be prepared with questions that will help you gain insight into what it’s like to work at this company.

The purpose of these questions is not only to get a better feel for whether or not the job is right for you but also to learn more about what makes this company great and therefore determine whether or not it’s worth working there.

When conducting an informational interview, keep these tips in mind:

  • Ask about the company’s mission, values, and history
  • Ask about their goals and objectives
  • Ask about their culture and values
  • Ask about their training programs

Put Your Best Face Forward

Once you’ve landed the interview, the real fun begins. Your next step is to put your best face forward and show them why they should hire you. Here are some tips for making a good impression:

Show up on time or early! You don’t want to be late, because this shows a lack of responsibility and respect for the interviewer’s time. They must know that you’re reliable and responsible enough to get there on time.

Dress professionally! Wear clothes that make you feel confident you’ll have an easier time getting into character when feeling confident about yourself, too!

If possible, ask someone who works at a spa or salon what their dress code is so that you can dress accordingly (this will also give them an idea of what kind of work environment they’d be walking into).

Be polite! Always thank people for their time when going in for an interview;

It’s a simple gesture but one that goes a long way towards creating positive vibes between everyone involved in these conversations taking place between potential employees who want nothing more than to find jobs that fit well with their interests/skillsets/etcetera…

Be A Good Listener

Being a good listener is more than just hearing what others are saying, it’s also understanding them. The first step to being a good listener is to ask clarifying questions when necessary. Listen carefully and try not to interrupt the other person.

Don’t assume you know where they’re going with their statement; listen until they’re finished before making your next comment or question.

Don’t talk over them or finish their sentences for them this can be interpreted as disinterest and an unwillingness to pay attention. Lastly, don’t be afraid to ask for clarification if something isn’t clear or needs further explanation!

Be Confident, But Not Cocky

Confidence is so important in this industry. You will be dealing with people who are going to expect the best from you and they want you to know that they expect the best from you.

Some clients will come into your chair and feel like they have been there before because of how much confidence you exude. The more confident you are, the better client experience they will have.

But don’t go overboard! Being cocky or arrogant can quickly turn clients off and they won’t come back again…or worse yet, word gets around about how difficult it was working with someone who had a bad attitude/attitude problem so no one wants to work with them anymore either!

Be Accountable For Your Mistakes

If you make a mistake at your job, accept responsibility. Apologize to the person or people who were affected by your mistake.

Then try to learn what went wrong and how you can avoid it in the future. Share what you’ve learned with others on your team so they can benefit from your experience too!

By being accountable for your mistakes, everyone benefits: clients are happy because they receive quality service; coworkers are motivated by seeing someone owning up to their responsibilities;

Managers appreciate employees who take initiative instead of hiding behind excuses and most importantly, employees feel valued for having shared their knowledge with others in the field!

Being accountable for our actions makes us better professionals overall.

Choose Your Words Wisely

When you’re looking for a new job, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of getting away from where you are.

Your old boss may have been an ogre and the company was always late on paychecks, but now that you’re looking at a place that’s hiring, it’s easy to let go of those negative experiences.

The truth is that if your interview is going well, then most likely so are the other interviews being conducted in hopes of filling that position.

You don’t want to ruin this chance by saying something off-putting or unprofessional during your meeting. If you’re applying through an online portal like Indeed or Craigslist.

Use caution when sharing personal details like age and street address with potential employers it can be very tempting (and sometimes necessary) for them to run background checks on applicants before making any decisions about who they choose as employees!

Make Every Client Feel Like They Matter Most

If you are going to be an esthetician in a spa, this is the most important thing you can do. Always greet your clients with a smile and ask them how they are doing or if they have any questions for you.

Think of it as being a waiter or waitress at a restaurant where the customer is always right you want to make sure that everything is perfect for them so that they will come back again!

Have Passion And Enthusiasm In Everything You Do!

Remember, a job is more than just a paycheck. It’s an opportunity to use your skills and talents, work with people you enjoy, learn new things and be part of something bigger than yourself.

If you love what you do then it will show in everything that you do from how much effort you put into your work to how much enthusiasm and passion come across during client interactions.

If there was one thing I would want potential employers or clients to know about me it would be this: I am passionate about everything that has anything to do with beauty!

From treatments like facials and microdermabrasion (which by the way I’m certified in), nail care such as manicures/pedicures, acrylics…and even eyebrow tinting! And let’s not forget lash extensions which are so popular right now because they make such beautiful lashes!

Offer To Get Involved With Extra Training That’ll Be Beneficial To You, The Company, And The Spa Industry As A Whole!

Here’s a big idea: Offer to get involved with extra training that’ll be beneficial to you, the company, and the spa industry as a whole!

We’re not just talking about that time in high school when you took Drama Club and learned how to do make-up. We’re talking about any kind of extra training that can help improve your skills or even help elevate the skills of others in your workplace.

For example: if there are employees who know nothing about facials or massage techniques (or even basic customer service).

Don’t shy away from offering yourself up as an expert guide and get ready for some fun! It can also be helpful if there are employees who already have experience doing something but could use guidance on how they do it; this is where having an open mind and friendly attitude will come in handy.

Conclusion

We hope you’re feeling inspired to take the next step in your esthetician career.

Whether that means applying for new positions, getting involved in a company’s training programs, or just asking more questions, we know that taking control of your success is the best way to get ahead at work and in life!
