How To Land Your Dream Job As A Desktop Support Specialist

Finding a job is hard enough. Finding the right job is even harder. And if you’re like me, you have a hard time finding jobs that will let you use your passion as a benefit rather than just another duty on your job description. 

That’s why I’m here: to tell you about desktop support specialists and how they can help you get into the field that’s right for you whether it be software engineering or IT Infrastructure Management (ITIM).

Know Your Requirements

To land your dream job, you need to know exactly what you want. When we say “know what you want”, we mean that it is essential for you to have a clear vision of what your ideal position will look like and how it will make an impact on the company. 

If you don’t know where or how your skills should be applied, then there is little chance that anyone else will either.

To start with, think about why this position exists in the first place. What problem does it solve? How would someone use their skills and experience in this role? Is there room for growth within the organization? What level of autonomy would someone be given in this role?

Make sure that all these points are covered before applying for any jobs listed by employers – if they aren’t included here then keep looking until they do appear somewhere else on their website!

Your Experience Matters

Your experience matters. It’s hard to land a job without it. But there are ways to get experience, even if you don’t have any yet. 

You can gain experience from volunteering at a local non-profit or your church, from internships (paid or unpaid), and from previous jobs that have given you some exposure to the field of desktop support.

You might also consider shadowing someone who already has the skills and knowledge needed for the position in question; this is especially helpful if they work for an organization with similar goals as yours!

Practice, practice, practice! It’s best not only when interviewing but also at work as well because it’ll keep you from making mistakes by being familiar with everything involved in your job description (which includes software).

Show That You Can Work As A Team

Your ability to work in a team environment can be a make-or-break factor for landing the job, so you’ll want to highlight all of your strengths in this area. The following bullet points should therefore be included in your resume:

Show that you have good communication skills by highlighting any teamwork experiences and projects where you worked with others, whether it was on school clubs or teams, sports teams, organizations, etc.

Show that you can work independently by including any solo projects on which you were involved with the help of other people (e.g., a group project) or ones where no one else was involved (e.g., an individual project).

Demonstrate how well were able to work within another team as part of another organization such as your high school class or student club/organization when applying to large companies like Google or Facebook; 

This also shows that they would need someone who is flexible enough to adapt quickly to different situations involving multiple teams working together simultaneously.

Instead of just having one single leader who makes all decisions unilaterally at their discretion alone without consulting anyone else beforehand firstly before making any changes whatsoever regardless how small those might seem initially.

Such as changing even just one letter spelling mistake per sentence written down word for word but instead leaving everything else exactly how it was originally written down before making any edits whatsoever later down again.

Because there isn’t anything worth changing anyway when everybody knows exactly what needs fixing anyways since everything has been said already so what would actually benefit them now?

Highlight Your Best Skills

You’re going to want to make sure your resume includes every skill that’s relevant to the job you want. This is where a skills matrix can come in handy. A skills matrix is a grid with columns for each skill you have, and rows for each example of how you used it (e.g., number of hours spent doing something).

When writing your resume, you should use action verbs in the first person (I did this) rather than passive voice (it was done). You should also include numbers when possible the more specific, the better!

Be Prepared For An Interview Or Internship

If you are interested in an internship, be prepared for the interview. It is important to be on time and dressed professionally. Make sure that you have your resume and references ready when asked for them by the interviewer. 

Ask questions about the job that interests you and show enthusiasm during the interview. If possible, ask about working hours or if there are any days off so that you can plan your schedule accordingly before accepting any offer.

If you are interested in a full-time position with our company, we require proof of employment verification from your previous employer(s) as well as references from people who know about your work ethic (e.g., teachers). 

We also require proof of education verification from schools where applicable after reviewing transcripts provided by current/past employers if no official degree(s) exist yet (i.e., high school diploma).

So don’t worry about seeming like too much of a pushover by asking around about people’s experiences with certain companies or organizations before committing oneself wholeheartedly
